A stretch of the trail to Start Point as it looks in high summer. The outline of the promontory itself can be recognised on my own first two pictures Lunch at the fungi

Picture Text
Hallsands seen to the south, in the distance the lighthouse at Start Point, hardly discernable The new and the old village of Hallsands, or what has been left of the latter by the encroaching sea Hallsands seen to the north, the crescent of Start Bay
The last evening of our stay in Devon we dined in the pub for a second time During dinner - now, I had to taste that beef, hadn't I - there was ample opportunity ... ... for a chat, enjoying a glass of claret, if not a bitter or even a 'Scrumpy Jack'
Then, after a rich dessert, Ruud rose and - I can't dwell on his technique - put a spell on all of us to make us rise willingly at dead of night Afterwards there was live music in the bar, two elderly bards with a hang on Phil and Don Everly. As they crooned some of us couldn't resist the itch to dance Picture Text
